August 12th Quest Meeting!

Hey Everyone!

There will be a Quest meeting at the church building this Friday the 12th!

If any of you aren't able to bring what you're assigned to just let me know and I can take care of it. :)

Also, as many of you have heard, our youth group adopted a little boy from Compassion Ministries at the Student Life conference in Daytona a couple weeks ago. He is 10 and lives in El Salvador. In order to support him we're hoping to have everyone bring a dollar to each Quest meeting. Mr. Urquhart is in charge of this and will be talking about this oppurtunity to support him at Quest on Friday. So if everyone could bring a dollar to the meeting that would be greatly appreciated.

St. Pete Retreat!

Hey everyone!

St. Pete is planning their annual High School Spring Break Retreat and they want us to join them!
The dates are March 31-April 2 (Thursday-Saturday) and it's at the Lakewood retreat center. So mark your calendars!


The theme is Rad Faith ( Mission :Home, Church, World). The theme centers around Mark 10:45 and Phil 2. The main message is that we are called to live a life of mission which looks like serving others in home, church, and the world.
There is much application here as youths wrestle with questions like, "What on earth am I here for?" and as they see their calling before God, they can put feet to their faith NOW. The cost of being a disciple will be spoken of and a clear picture of the gospel will be displayed as we look at Christ's mission and how the gospel enables us to live now.
There will be 4 teaching sessions -
Mission :Home
Mission :Church
Mission :World
and lastly guys/girls breakout session called Rad Faith: Marriage Prep.

As you know, there are over 25 activities including boating, a swimming pool, activity center, ball courts and fields, mini golf, and a nature walk that the youth will have time to enjoy as well.

Cost is $40 total per person. [Pay at retreat center]
Everything is included except a tent and sleeping bag.
All meals from Thursday Dinner to Saturday Lunch are included.

Parents are highly encouraged to attend. (=

Student Life Retreat This Summer!

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to do a quick post about the Student Life Retreat and fill you in on some of the details about an awesome experience that will be happening this Summer in Daytona Beach!

The theme of the conference is Devoted (Deut 6:5) and it will be taking place at the Ocean Center Monday-Friday, July 11-15!

The speaker will be Louie Giglio and our Worship Leader will be Chris Tomlin!

There is an early registration deposit of $60 that is due next Monday, Jan 31st. [I'm sorry for the short notice but I just now got the info about the Retreat.] Afterwards, the deposit fee is $70.

The remaining conference price is due late May ($85 without hotel - many of which are at or near capacity).

For those who attend SGC of Daytona Beach, we would like to send in an initial group registration for those who definitely would like to attend and then add others as that decision is made. Discuss this as a family prior to Quest. We can do the group registration fee with a credit card in order to meet the deadline - not sure if we can do that through the church with checks made out to SGC or if we will need to do this on one personal card with checks made out to that person.
More information will be available at Quest this Friday, as well as, a few packets for adults who are interested in attending. Student Life supports the local churches and has adults from the local churches involved with the Family Groups' Bible study and times of prayer. So far, our attending adults are Jesse and Jedediah.
